1. What will the facilities on campus be like?

SSFP-KFBS_campus_overhead-2012.12.11.pngFor four weeks, students will be staying at the apartment residence halls on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. Students will share an apartment with two to three roommates and each apartment has a kitchenette and a common area. Students will each have his/her own bedroom and closet and share a bathroom with a roommate. The majority of the supplies needed for the apartment will be provided (i.e., cleaning supplies, microwave, bedding, irons, etc.). A detailed packing list will be sent to students upon acceptance to the program.  s a Strategic Studies Fellow, students will gain access to the UNC internet network, the University’s library resources, and campus printing. All meals will be covered and hosted at the two on-campus dining halls. The services found on campus (fitness facilities, libraries, etc.) are all in short distance from the residence hall and classrooms.

2. What is the attire for the program?

The attire for the program is business casual for the most part.  There are certain days/events where the attire will be full business and for graduation, the attire will be Military Service Uniforms/Business Professional. A detailed packing list will be sent out upon admission to the program.

3. Will I have access to the internet?

Yes, you will have Ethernet access in the residence halls and wireless access in the classrooms.

4. How would a typical day go in the program?

A typical day will consist of going to class, reading in preparation for class, and working in teams for action learning projects. On average, classes are three hours per day. Certain classes can be up to six hours long, based on the topic and the speaker. During class, students are given the opportunity to delve into personal experiences and the knowledge gained from the readings to debate high-level strategic concepts and theories with renowned faculty members. Blocks of time will be set aside each day for both Independent Study and for Team Project Group Work. Weekends are generally free of required events.
