A Salute to the Mann Behind the Scenes
The IDB G.O.A.T. – Ronnie Mann
The Logistics behind Logistics Education
Since 2006, we’ve had the privilege of working with the G.O.A.T.—Ronnie Mann. When it comes to teamwork, logistics, execution, and strategy, Ronnie is unmatched. His 18-year tenure with the Institute for Defense and Business (IDB) has been marked by countless accomplishments and an immeasurable impact.
When Bill Powell, a former classmate, friend, and the first president of IDB, offered Ronnie the opportunity to join the team to fulfill the mission of supporting the military through education, Ronnie embraced it wholeheartedly.
As Program Manager, Ronnie spearheaded initiatives that included developing and delivering educational programs for the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Business Transformation Agency (BTA). Notably, he created 16 pre-deployment economics and governance roundtables for major military units preparing to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan—laying the foundation for what IDB programs are today.
In 2010, Ronnie’s role evolved into Operations Manager, where he became the central resource for IDB’s program management, finance and administration, strategy and business development, and executive management. He has been the glue that holds the organization together, quietly attending to the needs of anyone who calls, answering questions before they’re asked, and solving problems before they escalate.
Ronnie is a strategist whose logistical prowess has ensured the success of every organizational initiative, program delivery, and event. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to work alongside a man of such greatness and humility, who consistently gets the job done—no matter how big or small the task. As the famous chant goes: “Ronnie, Ronnie, he’s our Mann; if he can’t do it, nobody can!”
Ronnie, is leaving IDB to pursue his next venture and we wish him nothing but the best in all his future endeavors.
