Vice Admiral Michelle C. Skubic launched her private sector career after a remarkable 35+ year military service, illustrated by her achievements as the first woman promoted to Vice Admiral in the Navy Supply Corps, Director of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Chief of the Navy Supply Corps and Commander of Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP). Skubic earned her reputation for exceptional leadership as the 20th Director of DLA, where she managed a global workforce of 25,000 civilian and military personnel and implemented nearly $50B in annual contracts and sales across eight supply chains with worldwide storage and distribution networks.

Skubic has demonstrated effective leadership in supply chain coordination and resource allocation according to crisis management and risk mitigation strategies. As the principal supplier
of logistics services, raw materials and manufactured products to all military branches, combatant commands, Allied nations and 40 federal agencies, Skubic facilitated $6B in contracts for the Department of Health and Human Services’ 2019 coronavirus response, as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s disaster response mission.

Skubic crafted her capacity for strategic planning and operational efficiency through a series of high-profile leadership roles with the United States Navy and the Department of Defense (DoD). As the Commander of NAVSUP and 48th Chief of the Supply Corps, Skubic directed a 22,500-person logistics enterprise that enabled resource allocation across a $34B goods-and-services portfolio for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, joint and coalition forces. During her tenure as Commander, DLA Land and Maritime, Skubic coordinated a $3B annual budget to fulfill spare and repair parts for military services, civil agencies and other DoD organizations. As the Director of Logistics, Fleet Supply and Ordnance for the United States Pacific Fleet, Skubic leveraged technology to forecast logistics requirements and develop wartime and crisis mitigation plans that ensured operational readiness of Naval forces across the Indo-Pacific region.

Prior to her flag rank promotion, Skubic cultivated leadership skills across 10 officer assignments ashore and afloat. Skubic’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton, and a Master of Science in Acquisition and Contract Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. Skubic is also an alum of the Joint Forces Staff College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flaglar Executive Development Institute.

Skubic’s extraordinary military career was recognized through a series of prestigious awards, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the National Defense Transportation Association’s DoD Distinguished Service Award, the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and the Defense Superior Service Medal, among others. These accolades are a testament to her strategic vision, capacity for leadership, and commitment to excellence in leveraging supply chain management to facilitate operational readiness.
