John R. Glitz
John is a Program Director for the Institute for Defense and Business, a role he has filled since joining the IDB Staff in January 2025.
After retiring as an active-duty Marine in 2019, John was a project director for Lendlease, a multinational construction and real estate company, responsible for property and asset management for over 7,900 residential units valued at $1.25B.
As a Marine, John served as the Operations Officer for the 2d Marine Logistics Group in his final assignment prior to his military retirement. Key career assignments included service with logistics, infantry and training units, command of logistics and training units, and director of strategic logistics planning at both U.S. Central Command and Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps. He also served as executive assistant to a Deputy Commandant, Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM) Chief of Staff, legislative and military assistant to the Secretary of the Navy and, while assigned to CENTCOM, detailed to U.S. Embassy Iraq to serve as lead planner for the Department of State assumption of U.S. Mission-Iraq upon withdrawal of military forces in 2011.
A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and Troy University, John also attended the Marine Corps’ Expeditionary Warfare School, the Army Command and General Staff College, and United States Naval War College, Class of 2010.
John is married to the former Gioia (“Joya”) Bozeman, of Lexington VA and they have three grown children; Wade, who also served in the Marine Corps, Luke, and Caroline.
